Spectrum in the Shadows About the Design
The Stegosaurus form lends itself to a colorful and playful mosaic of Pittsburgh. The spikes along its back and tail remind artist Daviea Davis of the city's hillsides peppered with houses. The design reflects images of the Three Rivers, alive with rowers, crossed by bridges, and overlooked by the unique buildings of The Golden Triangle. The mosaic is made up of stained glass, mirror, and Sold!found objects. The animal's legs represent, in color and pattern, the bedrock from which this city has sprung; layers of time and earth, rich with history, thick with ingenuity, and flowing from expressions of creativity.
