About the Design

Inspiration came in bits and pieces to young women of The Ellis School as they deftly fashioned this Stegosaurus out of ceramic dishes, then grouted each inch between the plates. They dubbed the mosaic masterpiece "Plato." Karen Kaighin, photography teacher at Ellis and Pittsburgh Filmmakers, coordinated the project along with art I've been adopted!teachers from throughout the school.

About the Sponsor

The Ellis School is an urban, independent college-preparatory school and the only school dedicated to educating girls and young women in Western Pennsylvania. Each student is inspired to succeed by nurturing her spirit, challenging her intellect, and encouraging her vision of the future. In turn, we expect each student to do her best, serve her community, and embrace the diversity of the faculty and student body.

About the Location

This dinosaur is located inside the Ellis School in the north-east corner of an interior courtyard. All school doors are locked; therefore, this dinosaur is not accessible to the general public
