Stegosaurus en Toile About the Design
Laura Wilson: "'Stegosaurus en Toile' is influenced by the popular French toile fabric originally manufactured by the Royal Factory of Jouy, located in Jouy-en-Josas, a little town near Versailles southwest of Paris. "Toile" means canvas or cloth. Typical toile motifs often tell a story including in them vignettes of rural life, historical events, military victories, as well as mythical and most often pastoral scenes. Toile fabric is characterized by flat solid backgrounds embellished with delicate line renderings of the various scenes.

Sold!"For the design of 'Stegosaurus en Toile' I have copied the style of a typical French toile pattern. Instead of depicting a narrative or pastoral scene I have illustrated vegetation that would have been growing during the end of the Jurassic period, when the Stegosaurus was alive. The plants depicted include Cycads, Conifers, Ginkgoes, Seed Ferns and Angiosperms."
