Extinction? by Raphael Pantalone About the Design
"Extinction?" is a product of Pantalone's work with children as an art teacher and of his life as a world traveler. Utilizing an extinct species, the dinosaur, as a base, he has depicted a multitude of species who are being threatened with the same fate in the near future. Intended as a piece to which families with young children would be drawn, the graphic style and the interlocking design are intended to provoke discussion about how elements of nature are intertwined—when one element is missing, all others are affected. The tear that falls from the eye of the dinosaur represents its species and the many others which have followed. While the piece appears to take a light-hearted approach, the message behind it is very seriouSold!s. Life is very fragile—we must protect it.
