About
the Design
Artist Gene Fenton added fins, a fish tail and spikes to the
Torosaurus, hoping to make the dinosaur look like the
old sea monsters of the ancient maps. The fins extend from
the existing legs of the dinosaur. He colored the dinosaur
with stripes and polka dots using bright hues.
The
dinosaur modifications were performed using fiberglass sheeting.
The fiberglass sheets were attached by sanding the existing
fiberglass areas on the dinosaur. A skeletal frame of cardboard
or wire was used as support. The fiberglass additions were
then covered with a liquid hardener. Several layers of the
fiberglass sheeting were applied to create durability and
texture. Visit Gene
Fenton's website.
